WHO Warns of Mass Relocation Of Nurses From Africa

The World Health Organization has raised concerns about a potential healthcare crisis in Africa.

With the region’s nurse-to-population ratio is already one of the lowest globally, 42% of nurses on the continent plan to emigrate, worsening the existing shortage.

To address this, the WHO recommends expanding nursing education, improving working conditions, and introducing advanced practice roles.

African leaders have endorsed the Africa Health Workforce Investment Charter to strengthen healthcare workforce development.
