The Nigerian Senate has directed its standing committees on appropriation, power, and finance to investigate the entire Mambilla Hydro Electric Power Project contract transaction from 1999 to date, given four weeks to report back to the Senate in plenary for further legislative input.
The resolutions were adopted yesterday after a motion moved by Senator Manu Haruna representing Taraba Central, on the Urgent need to address the challenges of commencing the $5.79 billion Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project located in Taraba State.
Our Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin in his remarks said the lack of power supply had plunged the country into further hardship hence the need to dig deeper into the Mambilla project.
