Worried by the heightened rates of kidnappings in the nation’s capital, the Senate has called on the FCT Minister, Nyesome Wike, to revisit the failed $500m contract awarded in 2009 for the installation of CCTV cameras in Abuja and its environs.
The Senate also wants the executive to install CCTV cameras in strategic locations in the 36 states of the federation to forestall incidences of kidnapping and other criminal activities across the country.
These resolutions among other were taken today at plenary following debate on a motion by presented by Senator Ned Nwoko representing Delta North, having expressed grave concern over the kidnapping incident in Galadimawa area of Abuja where 19 people were forcefully taken from their homes including his Senior Legislative Aide, Barrister Chris Agidy.
