President Bola Tinubu has commended the efforts of the officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces describing them as the nation’s heroes while pledging his administration’s unwavering commitment to their welfare.
Speaking today at the commissioning of the newly constructed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks in Asokoro, Abuja, President Tinubu expressed pride in the completion of the barracks, which he said would enhance the welfare of Nigerian troops and their families..
President Tinubu who commended the Chief of Army Staff for leading the project to fruition also paid tribute to the late COAS General Taoreed Lagbaja for his contributions, praying for the repose of his soul.
Earlier, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede described the naming of the barracks after President Tinubu as a mark of honor and recognition for his outstanding support for military personnel.
He stated that despite this achievement, the Nigerian Army still faces pressing accommodation challenges that require urgent attention.
Lt. General Oluyede disclosed that the first two phases of the project provide housing for 614 personnel, including 170 officers and 444 soldiers and their families. “The barracks feature 16 Major General Quarters, 17 Brigadier General Quarters, and a range of accommodations for other ranks, along with worship centers, sports facilities, and other high-standard infrastructure.
