The National Population Commission (NPC) has fixed March 29 to April 1, 2023, for the national population and housing census.
The Chairman NPC, Mr Nasir Kwarra who disclosed this to State House Correspondents today shortly after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said the commission will make use of advanced technology.
According to him, the technological tools to be deployed will be able to code building and landmass, detailing information such as location, landscapes, etc to ensure a credible exercise.Â
Our Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that NPC Boss also stated that RESIDENT non-Nigerians will be counted as long as they are in the country at the time of the exercise.
Commenting on envisaged Security Challenges in parts of the country, the NPC Boss said the commission will provide adequate security for its field personnel and already ensured Insurance is provided for its staff.
He stated that in the 2023 Appropriation Act, the Federal Government earmarked N40billion for the National Population, adding that the national population data bank, Nigerian population database management system, geo-portal hosting of population website and web portal got N50million.
