The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said that the government has undertaken 330 emergency basic projects at a cost of N260 billion, completing over 80% of them.
Speaking during a meeting with contractors yesterday in Abuja, Umahi stressed the need for new policies to sustain road projects, as the Tinubu administration inherited 2,600 road projects nationwide, valued at N15 trillion, from the previous administration.
The Minister who also disclosed at a meeting with contractors that the first section of Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway would be completed by May 29, 2025.yesterday in Abuja, noted that the government paid N10 billion as compensation to property owners affected by the demolition necessary for the construction of the highway.
According to him, the road, which had been rerouted and resized to six lanes, would attract investment, tourism, factories and industries when it is completed in ten years.
