The Commissioner for insurance and Chief Executive Officer, National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), Mr Olorundare Sunday Thomas, has expressed optimism that insurance industry in Nigeria would perform much better under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking at a two-day seminar for financial journalists in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Mr Thomas who noted the impressive strides by the Agency, stated that the President is one who is interested in the growth of insurance industry, and hopeful Mr President will replicate at the Federal level, just like he did while he was Lagos state Governor.
Addressing the broader economic context, Mr. Thomas highlighted how the ongoing foreign exchange crisis and the persistent inflationary trends have also affected the insurance sector.
Our correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that NAICOM CEO expressed confidence that these adverse effects will gradually diminish as the federal government implements various initiatives aimed at stabilizing the overall economy.
