The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has vowed to address the anomalies that characterised the governorship and State Houses of Assembly election held across the country on Saturday March 18th.
National Commissioner, and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Barr. Festus Okoye, during a press conference held at the International Conference Center (ICC), Abuja, said allegations of voter inducement, harassment and manipulation of results will be reviewed and addressed.
According to him, reports the Commission got all over the States where the election were conducted, the issue of Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS), and the uploading of Polling Unit results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) witnessed a remarkable improvement.
Barrister Okoye however noted that circumstances beyond the Commission’s control impacted some of the processes, as he lamented that some INEC staff were victims of violence, harassment, abduction, and the death of one.
He further disclosed that the Commission would also review results from Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State following the invasion of the collation centre by thugs.
