The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari has revealed that the recapitalisation of Bank of Agriculture will be completed before the end of the 1st quarter of 2025, to support funding of Farmers in Nigeria.
The Agriculture Minister who made this known while briefing State House Correspondents on Tuesday in Abuja, said that with the 109 BOA branches across senatorial districts, the bank will be re-organised to support government’s effort in the areas of budgetary allocation towards the development of agriculture across Nigeria.
Our correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that the Minister disclosed that in order to boost food production and ensure adoption of Mechanized farming across the country, the Federal Government has imported eighty-five containers, containing two hundred and fifty five out of the two thousand tractors expected from Belarus have arrived Nigeria.
He also said that the government has also received Belarus company commitment on the delivery of 2000 ploughs, planters and arrows as well as boom sprayers to improve agricultural productivity and food security in Nigeria.
The Minister noted that in 2024, Nigeria’s agricultural progress was notably influenced by improvements in security, particularly in Borno and Katsina and other regions previously affected by terrorism and inaccessible to farmers now records significant agricultural activity.
