FG Approves 50% Telecoms Tariff Hike

The Federal Government has approved a new 50 per cent hike in the cost of telephone services in the country.

This comes 12 years after the last tariff hike was effected.

This was announced yesterday by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in a statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Reuben Muoka.

The adjustment, capped at a maximum of 50 per cent of current tariffs, though lower than the over 100 per cent requested by some network operators, was arrived at taking into account ongoing industry reforms that will positively influence sustainability.
