Premier League leaders Liverpool and debutants Brighton have discovered their fate in the Europa League last 16 draw, with both teams set for intriguing encounters in the next stage of the competition.
Liverpool, who are currently at the top of the Premier League table, will travel to the Czech capital to take on Sparta Prague in the first leg on March 7. The Reds will then host Sparta Prague at Anfield for the return leg a week later.
Meanwhile, Brighton, in their maiden European campaign, face a glamour tie against AS Roma.
The Seagulls topped Group B, which included Marseille, Ajax, and AEK Athens, and will now test their mettle against the Italian giants. The first leg will be played in the Italian capital on March 7, with the return leg scheduled for March 14 at Brighton’s home ground.
In other fixtures, Europa Conference League holders West Ham United will take on German side Freiburg, while Scottish giants Rangers have been drawn against two-time European champions Benfica from Portugal. Marseille will face Villarreal, Sporting CP will clash with Atalanta, AC Milan will meet Slavia Prague, and Qarabag will play Bayer Leverkusen.
All matches in the Europa League last 16 will be played across two legs on March 7 and March 14, with teams vying for a spot in the quarter-finals of the competition.
