Barely 48 hours to the Off-Cycle gubernatorial elections in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo states, the Defence Headquarters has warned those planning to disguise in military camouflage during the polls to disrupt the process, to stay off or face shoot at sight.
The Director Defense Media Operations (DDMO), Maj. Gen. Edward Buba who made the disclosure today while briefing newsmen on military operations across the country in Abuja, noted that election is a serious business assuring that the military is fully prepared to give the electoral process the necessary attention.
Regarding any possible connivance by troops to flout electoral guidelines or create havoc, the DMO warned troops to beware that standing court martials have been created and that any personnel found wanting will face the consequences of their action.
Speaking on military operations across it’s theatres within the past one week, the General, noted that its troops arrested 300 terrorists, destroyed and discovered 76 dugout pits, 35 boats, 95 storage tanks while rescuing 91 kidnapped hostages amongst several others.
