The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo has summoned heads of regulatory agencies in the ministry to address recent safety concerns in the aviation sector.
Reacting to questions on the Sunday incident of diversion to Asaba, Delta state of a Lagos-Abuja bound United Nigeria Airline flight, the Minister reiterated that all full assessment of the incident has commenced and all persons indicted will be sanctioned over the landing error. He added that in the course of the investigation, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended the Wet lease of the Airline.
Our Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that the Minister also bemoaned the unfavorable Agreement entered into by the failed Nigeria Air with the Ethiopian Airline by the former administration, reiterating that while the operations of the Nigeria air remains suspended, audit reports have been submitted to President Bola Tinubu for further actions.
The Minister also disclosed that two Memos were approved by FEC on behalf of the Ministry, bordering on the signing of Bilateral Air Service Agreement with South American nation of Republic of Guyana to operate direct flights between the two countries and The Procurement of customised Explosives and Narcotics Detection machines at four airports in Nigeria.
