President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman as the Executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
According to Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, Professor Usman is a renowned scholar with qualifications from the University of Madinah and Peshawar University, Pakistan.
Ngelale noted that Professor Usman previously served as Chairman of Kano State Pilgrims Board, successfully overseeing the operations of the largest quota of state pilgrims in the country.
He also stated that the appointment is subject to confirmation by the Senate.
This development comes after President Tinubu relieved Jalal Arabi of his position as executive chairman of NAHCON, who is currently under investigation by the EFCC over the management of funds related to the 2024 Hajj exercise.
