The National Economic Council is considering a consequential increment in Nigerian workers’ allowances as part of palliatives to cushion the effect of the recent fuel subsidy removal.
Briefing State House Correspondent after the NEC meeting presided over by Vice President, Kashim Shettima, Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed said having entertained submissions from the national salary, income, and wages commission during the meeting at the Presidential villa, the council said over seven hundred and two billion (N702 billion) is to be earmarked to serve as allowances for Nigerian workers.

Our Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Radda also hinted that aside from the petroleum allowance, steps are on to tap into another 750 million dollars already provided by the world bank while additional funds are being sourced to create sustainable palliative measures for vulnerable Nigerians.

On his part, Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello said all states were directed to come up with an action plan to be presented to the council in order to mitigate flooding across the country.
