The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has banned all staff found negligent in the February 25th Presidential and National Assembly election from participating in the forthcoming Governorship and State Assembly elections slated for March 11th.

INEC Chairman who disclosed this at a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners during the weekend, assured that all identified challenges would be addressed ahead of the concluding phase of the general election involving 28 State Governorship elections and 993 State Houses of Assembly seats.

Our Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that INEC Chairman said the commission is perfecting arrangement for the conduct of supplementary elections in 46 Senatorial and Federal Constituencies where elections did not hold on February 25. 

Prof Yakubu further disclosed that Certificates of Return will be issued to the already established 98 Senator-elect out of 109 Senate seats on Tuesday March 7th, while 325 House of Representatives Member-elect would get theirs the following day Wednesday March 8th 2023. 

The INEC Chairman who also admitted some cases of logistics challenges at the last election, stated that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will once again be deployed for voter accreditation and result management in the Governorship and Assembly polls.
