As Nigeria joins the global community in commemorating Universal Children’s Day, the Federal Government has pledged to expand child protection services to reach 2 million children by 2030, as part of its commitment to ensuring a safer and more equitable future for Nigeria’s youth.
The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, in a statement during the occasion of Universal Children’s Day,highlighted other key initiatives, including parenting programs targeting 10 million families and comprehensive security measures to foster safer schools.
According to her, to bolster education, the government is investing in anti-bullying campaigns, positive discipline programs, and enhanced school security systems.
These measures she said align with the National Plan for Financing Safe Schools, which has allocated over ₦112 billion to secure learning environments over the next three years.
She however called for collective action from parents, educators, traditional rulers, and community leaders to address persistent issues such as child labor, trafficking, and harmful cultural practices.
