The Federal government says it is committed to ensuring a successful implementation of the Naira-based sales of crude oil and refined products policy in the country.
Minister of Finance and the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun alongside the Group Chairman of Dangote Petrochemicals, Aliko Dangote, who disclosed this after the review meeting of implementation committee with President Bola Tinubu, at the state house, Abuja, said government is investing efforts into ramping up production and sale of refined products in naira, for sustainable economic growth.
Also speaking, Alhaji Dangote expressed concern that despite having enough refined products in storage, fuel marketers prefer to import products rather than pick up from him as a local supplier.
He stated that the refinery can produce over 30 million litres of fuel daily at full capacity and currently holds 500 million litres in reserve, enough to supply the country for over 12 days without imports.
He therefore called on oil marketers to support the Tinubu government in its determination to stop importation of fuel, while calling for a stronger local supply chain to back the nation’s energy security.
