The  Federal Executive Council has approved 80billion naira for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the Alau Dam in Borno State.

Minister of Water Resources, Prof. Joseph Utsev who made this known after FEC meeting on Tuesday, said the first component of the reconstruction work is expected to commence before July this year, to forestall the devastating flooding that hit Maiduguri last year, following the collapse of the dam.

He added that the desilting of the dam will commence by December this year.

On her part, Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Bunkure, disclosed that the Council approved N203.6 billion for six major infrastructure projects in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), aimed at improving road networks, erosion control, and water supply.
