WHO Expresses Regret Over U.S. Withdrawal Decision

The World Health Organization (WHO) has expressed regret following the announcement of the United States’ intent to withdraw from the organization.

In a statement released today (Tuesday), the global health body underscored its critical role in safeguarding health worldwide, including in the United States.

The United States, a founding member of WHO since 1948, has been instrumental in shaping the organization’s policies and initiatives. Over the past seven decades, the partnership between the U.S. and WHO has led to significant achievements, including the eradication of smallpox and near-eradication of polio.

It added that with the participation of the United States and other Member States, WHO has implemented the largest set of reforms in its history over the past seven years, transforming its accountability, cost-effectiveness, and impact in countries.

Expressing hope for a reversal of the decision, the WHO hope the United States will reconsider and look forward to engaging in constructive dialogue to maintain the partnership between the USA and WHO, for the benefit of the health and well-being of millions of people around the globe.
