The United State’s government has denied allegations that funds from its Agency for International Development (USAID) is used to sponsor Boko Haram activities in Nigeria.
US Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills Jr who denied the allegations while speaking with newsmen after meeting with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum late on Wednesday in Abuja, stated US government has strongly supported the fight against Boko Haram and constantly condemned it’s activities.
He stressed that his country also in 2013 labeled the Boko Haram a foreign terrorist organization and blocked the sect from carrying out any asset transfers to United States. The ambassador however maintained that the US stands with Nigeria in its efforts to investigate the allegation.
Our correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that the US Ambassador also clarified that funds support by US government has not been cut but temporarily on pause for administrative restructuring.
