Tajudeen Abass emerges Speaker, Calls for Team Work, Pleadges Commitment Towards Unified Legislature

The Newly elected Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Tajudeen Abbas has called on his fellow Lawmakers to work with him as a team, as he promised to sustain and even surpass the gains of the 9th House of Representatives. 

Hon Tajudeen Abbas representing Zaria constituency, emerged Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 10th Assembly, defeated Ahmed Idris Wase, the former Deputy Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, and Aminu Sani Jaji after polling 353 votes, while Wase and Jaji polled 3 votes each.

In his first speech as the Speaker, Hon. Abbas assured that his doors will be open for all members noting that the House shall introduce reforms and innovations for the benefit of Nigerians. He reiterated that the House shall work closely and inter-dependently with the Executive and Judiciary to give Nigerians the good governance.

In an interview with House of Reps Correspondent Nathan Williams, Hon. Beni Lar from Plateau State and Hon. Salman Idris from Kogi State respectively commended the voting process, assured of a unified 10th house of Reps and passage of laws that will enhance public growth and development of the nation.

The Speaker Hon. Tajudeen Abbas adjourned till tomorrow Wednesday 14th 2023 at 11am for resumption of plenary.
