The Nigerian Senate has summoned National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu and heads of all security agencies, including the Director Generals of the Department of State Services (DSS), National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) to appear before it to address allegations of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on sponsoring Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria.
The summons follows allegations made by US Republican Congressman Scott Perry.
Our Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that Senator Ali Ndume raised a point of order during plenary today, emphasizing the urgent need for the matter to be investigated and the need for collaboration with security agencies to uncover the truth.
In his remarks, President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio questioned the continued presence of USAID in Nigeria if the organization is found to be Complicit, adding that the Security Chiefs should be summoned immediately to Clarify the allegations.
