President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio has returned to Nigeria after a brief vacation in London, quelling rumors about his ill-health.
Senator Akpabio, who attended the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva, from July 29 to 31 was warmly received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja this morning by fellow senators, aides, and supporters.
Fielding questions from journalists upon arrival, Senator Akpabio dismissed rumors that he had been critically ill and hospitalised in London, reassuring Nigerians of a renewed and vigorous legislative session.
Our correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that the Senate President also defended Nigeria’s strong presence at the Geneva conference, citing the country’s commitment to global parliamentary cooperation.
The Senate President also pledged to collaborate with the executive and judiciary to deepen democratic governance and deliver tangible results to Nigerians.
