The Senate has passed a vote of confidence on its President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, amidst sexual harassment allegation brought against him by the suspended Senator for Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Raising a point of order at plenary, Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, said the allegation has distracted senators from their mandate in the last two weeks and clarified that Senator Natasha was not suspended for bringing sexual harassment allegation against Akpabio, but for misconduct allegation, which was referred to Ethics Committee.
Our correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, reiterated that the matter is now before the courts, and as such, the Senate should allow the legal system to take its course.
