The Senate has approved the dismissal of three Resident Electoral Commissioners who have been suspended since 2023 over alleged misconduct during the 2023 general election.
This followed President Bola Tinubu’s request in a letter to the Senate, as he hinted of nominating replacements for the vacant positions soon.
The affected Resident Electoral Commissioners are Ike Uzochukwu of Abia State, Hudu Yunusa-Ari of Adamawa, and Nura Ali of Sokoto.
Meanwhile, yesterday’s plenary also saw the formal defection of Senator Ned Nwoko to the APC from PDP, attributing his action to the crisis in the state party.
