President Tinubu - Stop Protests And Embrace Dialogue 

President Bola Tinubu has urged the #EndBadGovernance protesters and organizers to suspend further demonstrations and engage in dialogue.

President Tinubu who made the appeal in a nationwide broadcast on Sunday, expressed sorrow over lives lost and wanton destructions during the protests and called for an end to violence and citizens support of the government irrespective of party, tribe, religion, or other divides.

Our correspondent, Raliat Adenekan who monitored the broadcast reports that, the President defended his decision to remove fuel subsidies and reform the foreign exchange system, stating that these actions were necessary to “reverse the decades of economic mismanagement.”

President Tinubu highlighted economic progress, stating, “Aggregate government revenues have more than doubled, hitting over N9.1 trillion in the first half of 2024 compared to the first half of 2023.”

Speaking on Food Security, President Tinubu assured Nigerians that his administration is taking concrete measures in tackling food shortages and addressing hunger, adding that his government will continue to provide incentives to farmers to boost food production.

President Tinubu in his address also outlined various developmental projects of his administration, noting ongoing major infrastructure projects, revival of the Oil and Gas Sector Revival, with an increase in oil production to 1.61 million barrels per day and renewed investor interest in the sector.

He further stated that his government launched a Compressed Natural Gas Initiative to power transportation and reduce costs, Youth Empowerment Programmes; including the student loan scheme, Digital and Creative Enterprises programme, and and various skill development schemes, all in order to ameliorate the economic hardship faced by Nigerians.
