President Bola Tinubu today signed into law the N54.99 trillion 2025 Appropriation Bill, marking a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s economic recovery and transformation.
The brief ceremony witnessed by Senate President, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, Speaker, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, Principal Officers from both chambers of the National Assembly and other top Government officials took place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Our correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that President Tinubu speaking during the budget signing ceremony highlighted that while the beginning of the administration was marked by uncertainty, the country is now seeing tangible signs of progress, including a rebounding national GDP growth rate of 3.86 percent and a significant increase in revenue to N21.63 trillion.
In his remarks, President of the Senate , Godswill Akpabio said National Assembly will not hesitate to approve any policy that will improve the livelihood of Nigerians. He promised that the Legislative arm will intensify oversight functions once budgetry implementation begins.
The Appriopriation bill was passed by both Chambers of the National Assembly on the 13th of this month after adjusting upwards, the N49.7 trillion document presented by President Tinubu last. The 2025 figure represents about 100% increase over the 2024 Budget of N27.5 trillion.
