The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has resolved to initiate legal proceedings against the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and other key stakeholders who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The party’s leadership, after a marathon six-hour closed-door meeting at its national secretariat in Abuja yesterday, directed the PDP National Legal Adviser to commence the process of reclaiming what it termed the party’s stolen mandate in Delta State, while appointing Emma Ogidi, as its South-South Zonal Chairman, to take charge of affairs in Delta and lead reorganization efforts.
Earlier, the nation’s Vice-President Kashim Shettima says the defection of Gov. Oborevwori and thousands of his supporters to the APC as a testimony to the enduring promise and collaborative approach of the party.
Governor Oborevwori also said what happened in Delta State, was a movement not a defection, explaining that all stakeholders of the state were part of the decision to move to the APC.
