Nigeria and Brazil have signed an aviation deal to allow the takeoff of direct flights from Lagos to Sao Paulo to be operated by Nigeria’s largest airline company, Air Peace starting from November this year.
The Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) was signed by Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, and Brazil’s Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Filhos and jointly supervised by Presidents Bola Tinubu and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Brazil.
Speaking to journalists after the bilateral aviation deal signing, Air Peace CEO, Mr Allen Onyema, announced that the airline will commence direct flights from Lagos to São Paulo by late November into December this year.
An excited Onyema described the deal as a major leap for Nigeria’s aviation sector and praised President Tinubu for making it possible.
Mr Onyema said that the airline plans to start with three weekly flights and gradually scale up depending on demand and logistics.
