The Federal Government has dismissed accusations that terrorists in Nigeria are carrying out a targeted genocide against Christians.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, called the claims unfounded, misleading, and divisive.
In a statement on Sunday, Idris stressed that Nigeria’s security issues affect people of all religions and warned against framing the violence as religiously motivated.
He noted that terrorist attacks affect Muslims, Christians, and non-religious individuals alike.
Idris also rejected the genocide narrative, stating it distorts Nigeria’s religious diversity and affirming that Christians are neither endangered nor marginalized.
