The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate has signed an agreement with the World Economic Forum (WEF) for Nigeria’s accession into the Global Activator Network (GAN) on Maternal Health.
In view of the Federal Government’s National Free C-Section Programme for vulnerable women and the MAMII Programme, which reduces out-of pocket costs for women’s healthcare and improves on existing monitoring and performance management mechanisms across 172 local governments hardest-hit by maternal mortality nationwide, the Coordinating Minister says Nigeria’s collaboration with the Alliance is one that will leverage global partnership and catalytic resource unlocking to achieve Nigeria’s objective of improving maternal health outcomes in Nigeria.
The Coordinating Minister stated this while signing the agreement with the Managing Director of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Mr. Jeremy Jurgens, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.Â
