The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has disclosed that the Federal Government has introduced significant reforms in visa administration to attract more visitors to Nigeria.
Tunji-Ojo who stated this at the ongoing ministerial briefing today in Abuja, said the Nigerian Visa Policy 2024, recently approved by President Bola Tinubu, has already led to an increase in foreign arrivals adding that further improvements would be implemented in the coming weeks, including the introduction of an electronic visa (e-visa) system.
Comnenting on the state of correctional facilities in the country, the minister highlighted ongoing reforms to improve security and reduce overcrowding, revealing that President Tinubu has approved the relocation of some correctional centers due to urbanization.
Speaking on boarder surveillance and security, he noted that government has also strengthened border security, with 60 percent of Nigeria’s 4,047-kilometer land border already under surveillance.
