President Bola Tinubu has assured that by 2030, Nigeria will start producing 10 million tonnes of liquid steel.
President Tinubu, represented by the Vice-President Kashim Shettima, who made this known on Wednesday at the Inaugural Stakeholders Summit on the Development of the Steel Sector in Nigeria, in Abuja, urged the private sector to collaborate with the government in revamping the sector.
He noted that the government aims to create over 500,000 direct and indirect jobs, with the development of a ten-year roadmap for the sector.
VP Shettima outlined ongoing efforts by this administration to revamp legacy projects in the sector, such as the Ajaokuta Steel Company, the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria, the National Iron Ore Mining Company, and the Delta Steel Company, among others.Earlier in his remarks, Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Audu, noted that though Nigeria is well endowed with Steel making raw materials, it’s yet to fully explore its potential for industrial development.
