Nigeria Customs Sets 30-Day Clearance Deadline for Imports

Imported goods and products at the nation’s ports would henceforth be cleared under 30-days, in a bid to streamline operations and reduce port congestion.

The 30-day clearance period was announced in a statement by the National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, Abdullahi Maiwada, who noted that an additional provision of a 30-day clearance period could be granted with the approval of the relevant Area Controller.

He also explained that after a final 90-day window to clear goods, uncleared goods would be subject to disposal proceedings.
