The House of Representatives Committee on NG-CARES has begun investigation into the implementation of the $696 million (N1.06trillion) Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) social intervention program of the federal government.
Chairman of the committee, Hon. Abubakar Kusada, who disclosed this at a briefing in Abuja said the investigation became imminent since the masses were not feeling impact of the social nets despite the federal government fulfilling its funding obligation and providing the guidelines, and operational arrangements for the effective implementation of NG-CARES.
Our Correspondent Nathan Williams reports that Hon. Kusada concluded that if these funds have been diverted, the affected states should restore the funds and utilise them properly and if there has been a gross mismanagement of funds the people will know that the funds for Palliatives have been misused, knowing who to hold responsible.
The Deputy Chairman of the committee HON. DENNIS AGBO further noted that if the funds have been properly applied to provide the required social safety nets, then Nigerians in search of Palliatives would know where to look to find them.
