Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state has called for cancellation of the planned nationwide protests on June 12 Democracy Day, stating that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is doing all possible to address the challenges faced by citizens.
The Governor who made the appeal while addressing journalists after a meeting between President Tinubu and members of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) in Lagos, during the weekend, said there was no need for any demonstrations, noting that the prices of food items and petroleum products have started to decline, urging Nigerians to give the President more time.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also debunked speculation of a rift between him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing such claims as baseless.
He clarified that the Ikoyi meeting was a traditional courtesy visit by the GAC, stressing that the visit was also an opportunity to pray with the President, offer well wishes and continued support, while acknowledging the impact of President Tinubu’s leadership over the past two years.
