Flying Eagles of Nigeria suffered a 1-0 defeat before South Africa’s Amajita in their semi-final clash yesterday in the CAF U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The South African goal was scored in the 66th minute, after the Flying Eagles enjoyed more of the ball in the first half of the game.
The win sees South Africa reach their second U-20 AFCON final to play Morocco; only their next final since 1997 when they finished as runners-up.
For Nigeria, it marks a third consecutive semi-final defeat in the tournament, having previously fallen to Mali (2019) and Gambia (2023).
Nigeria will now play host Egypt in the third place tie for a chance to bag a bronze medal.
