The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has bagged the chieftaincy title of Ugosimba 1 of Enugu.
According to her aide, Busola Kukoyi, the honour acknowledges her as the Jewel of Women Empowerment.
The recognition comes shortly after her husband, President Bola Tinubu, received the chieftaincy title Dike Si-Mba 1 during his visit to Anambra State.
During her visit to Enugu State, Senator Tinubu encouraged traditional rulers to support her initiatives aimed at improving public health. She highlighted her commitment to fighting cervical cancer, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and Female Genital Mutilation, urging local leaders to join her efforts.
She also introduced key programs under the Renewed Hope initiative, such as Flow with Confidence, which seeks to ensure adolescent girls do not miss school due to menstruation, and the Environment Club/Society, which promotes student involvement in environmental restoration.
The Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Council, His Royal Highness Samuel Asadu, praised the collaboration between the Federal Government and the state, noting that harmful cultural practices limiting women’s progress have been eliminated.
He also commended President Tinubu for his dedication to national development and applauded the First Lady’s initiatives aimed at fostering a better future for Nigerians.
