FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, says the team that wins this year’s expanded Club World Cup in the United States can earn up to $125 million in prize money, including extra bonuses.
Infantino, in a statement yesterday, announced that the total prize money for the tournament, which will take place from June 14 to July 13, is $1 billion.
A breakdown of the sum would see all teams in the Group stage claim $2m for every victory and $1m for a draw, $7.5m each in the Round of 16, $13.125m each in the Quarter-final, $21m each for the Semi-finalists, Runner-up would get $30m, while the eventual winner walks away $40m.
Infantino added that all revenue from the tournament would be used to support club football.
