The Federal Government has raised an alarm about the growing threat of cyber-slavery in West Africa, targeting Nigerian youths.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, who disclosed this in a statement yesterday expressed concern over the alarming rise in cases of cyber-slavery across parts of West Africa, which he said “primarily targets Nigerian citizens, especially vulnerable youths.”
The Minister says , many young Nigerians, including underage teenagers, are being lured out of the country with false promises of lucrative employment opportunities abroad, particularly in crypto-related operations, only to be forced into cybercrime activities.
He however warns Nigerians to be cautious with job offers, especially those involving cryptocurrencies, promising easy money and overseas travel, to verify them through official channels.
