The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa has said that the federal government has set a target to reintegrate 10 million out-of-school children into the education system by 2027.
Speaking at the ministerial briefing in Abuja, Alausa outlined the government’s comprehensive strategy to tackle Nigeria’s education crisis, which includes expanding technical and vocational training, improving digital skills, and strengthening governance in the sector.
Describing the situation as alarming, he revealed that 15 million children are currently out of school, with about 50 percent never having attended any formal education, while another 25 percent receive only informal learning.
To address this challenge, Mamman said the ministry has developed a three-pillar approach: ensuring equitable access to basic education, improving learning outcomes, and enhancing governance and management in the education system.
