The Federal Government has officially renamed the Ministry of Niger Delta Development to the Ministry of Regional Development, tasked with overseeing all Regional Development Commissions across the country.
According to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) resolutions, the National Sports Commission (NSC) will assume the responsibilities of the former Ministry of Sports Development with Shehu Dikko as the Chairman, aiming to foster a vibrant sports economy.
Additionally, the Federal Ministry of Tourism and the Federal Ministry of Arts and Culture will merge to form the new Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy.
Briefing newsmen at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the newly appointed Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, clarified the ministry’s objectives and dispelled any misconceptions.
Our Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that the Regional Development Commissions to be supervised by the new Ministry are; the Niger Delta Development Commission, the South East Development Commission, the North East Development and the North West Development Commission.
