The Federal Government has officially launched an initiative tagged “Nutrition 774” to combat malnutrition in children across the nation.
Speaking at the 148th National Economic Council meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Vice President Kashim Shettima urged state governors, local government chairmen, and other stakeholders to take decisive action to tackle malnutrition in Nigeria, while providing statistics that indicate about 40% of Nigerian children under five are suffering from stunting, and 27% being underweight.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, said the federal, state, and local government officials signed a pact pledging to support the actualisation of the mission to tackle malnutrition across all 774 local government areas.
Our correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun disclosed that the key economic priorities for 2025, will be focused on stabilizing the Nigerian economy, boosting agriculture, enhancing energy security, and improving infrastructure.
On his part, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu provided an update on Nigeria’s financial accounts within the month of February, 2025.
