The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, has revealed that the Federal Government is set to generate additional N4.5 trillion in revenue, leading to revisions in both the national budget and the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF).
Speaking in an interview with newsmen on Thursday in Abuja, Bagudu stated that the original N49.7 trillion budget, presented to the National Assembly, underwent comprehensive legislative review.
Our correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that the Ninister noted that the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), state-owned enterprises, and the Nigeria Customs Service were identified as key contributors capable of surpassing the initial revenue targets.
Bagudu emphasized the strong collaboration between the executive and the National Assembly in shaping the nation’s fiscal policy, confirming that further adjustments to the MTEF would be made to reflect the updated budget.
