…Approves ₦142 billion for the construction of modern bus terminals nationwide.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday directed ministers to submit comprehensive lists of projects in the Agencies and parastatals under their supervision to the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) for scrutiny and analysis, with the results to be transmitted to the President.
The Minister of Information and Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who disclosed this on behalf of Director General of the BPP, Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, while briefing newsmen at the end of the council meeting also stated that all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) were directed to complete procurement processes for projects under the 2024 Appropriation Act by the end of September 2025.
Our correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that FEC also mandated all government parastatals to give preference to Made-in-Nigeria goods and companies in their procurement processes.
On his part, Minister of Transportation, Sai’du Alkali revealed that FEC approved N142billion for the construction of modern bus terminals nationwide.
He explained that the absence of centralised bus terminals has contributed to increasing rates of crime, traffic accidents, and the spread of illegal arms along major highways, prompting the ministry to seek intervention.
