Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai arrived at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja on Monday to answer questions over alleged corruption during his tenure.
Security operatives barred members of his entourage from entering the premises, as supporters and opposing protesters gathered nearby, chanting slogans and displaying placards.
El-Rufai’s media aide said security agents tried to arrest him at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport after his return from Cairo. El-Rufai described the move as executive overreach.
He denies any wrongdoing and maintains that political interests drive the investigation into his administration.
