FG Urges PENGASSAN to Suspend Strike Over Dangote Refinery Layoffs
The Federal Government has appealed to the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) to call off its nationwide strike set to begin today, following a dispute with Dangote Refinery.
Labour Minister Muhammad Dingyadi announced an emergency meeting with both parties to resolve the conflict and avoid disruption.
PENGASSAN accuses Dangote Refinery of illegally laying off over 2,000 Nigerian workers and replacing them with foreign staff under poor working conditions, violating labour laws and international agreements.
Dangote Group denies the mass layoffs, stating that over 3,000 Nigerians remain employed and that recent restructuring aims to protect the facility from sabotage.
