Borno Governor Vows to Resist Terrorists Takeover of LGAs

Following heightening attacks by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno state, Governor, Babagana Zulum has assured that no local government in the state would be allowed to fall under insurgents’ control.

Speaking to State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday, Governor Zulum explained that his government has begun evaluating the situation in the affected local government areas, adding that urgent security interventions, including the deployment of forest guards and expedited delivery of military equipment to the Northeast was already in the pipeline.

He called on the Nigerian Military as well as concerned citizens to rise up and defend the communities, expressing confidence that the federal government will do everything possible to bring the situation under control.

He pledged not to relent in the effort to strengthen the resilience of the Northeast community in collaboration with volunteers who can complement the efforts of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
